Welcome to Casual Trekkers! We’re Jeff and Chris, retired travelers sharing real experiences, practical tips and places worth exploring.
We’re not full-time travelers or hard-core hikers. We simply enjoy getting out a few times each year to discover new places, take a road trip, walk a scenic trail and see what’s around the next corner.
We do enjoy hiking, but usually at a casual pace and within our limits. Of course, we’ve discovered that someone else’s idea of an “easy to moderate” hike can occasionally be a little more adventurous than we expected!
Most of the time, we plan our own trips and explore independently rather than travel with an organized tour group. We especially enjoy traveling during the shoulder seasons, when there are often fewer crowds, better values and a little more freedom to experience a destination at our own pace.
We also use airline and hotel points whenever we can to make our travel dollars go further. Through Casual Trekkers, we share the places we visit, how we planned our trips, what worked, what didn’t, and those little things we wish we had known before we went.
Hopefully, something we’ve learned along the way will make your next adventure a little easier—or inspire you to start planning one of your own.
